Dante of Surviving the World is right.
And it’s true. After a season of endless family gossipin’, gorgin’, deckin’, candle lightin,’ dreidel spinnin’ and present overloadin’…isn’t it time to sit in one place and read the 700 page archive of that one webcomic you’ve always meant to get into? Yes. But which are worth your precious...

Revisionist History in the Void →
This past spring, composer Bear McCreary posted an announcement about his involvement with the game Dark Void, including a snippet of the main theme. He also added an additional chiptune-style remix he created using samples of NES synths. At the time, it was simply an homage to his favorite game series, Mega Man. Later, Capcom’s Unity Blog used this remix to help fuel a hilarious April...

Bryan Singer ended a few months of speculation this week by confirming that he...
– —Rotten Tomatoes.
I wish I could say this makes me jump out of my seat with excitement, but…meh.
Speaking as an old-school X-Men fan, the last movie in the trilogy + the unwatchable Wolverine movie = absolutely no need for more X movies. Especially a prequel which would let a bunch of...

Games of 2009
Following in my tradition from last year, I’ve put together a gallery featuring nearly all of the notable games of the year! As a disclaimer, same as before, these are the games that caught my attention and I spent a decent amount of time playing. Even though this list is huge, there are still some things missing. Enjoy!

Milorad Pavic, Serbian Author of Novel Novels,... →
The author of my very favorite book has passed away. I was so fervently hoping for something new before he passed, but I’ll be content to re-read his masterpiece “The Dictionary of the Khazars” again and again. And it’s easy to re-read his work, considering how he built his novels:
“An academic whose field, perhaps unsurprisingly, was philosophy, Mr. Pavic taught for...

Rice Boy -- Short Stories →
Well, this is an interesting twist. Fantasy web comicist Evan Dahm (creator of Rice Boy and Order of Tales) has implemented a money-making strategy I haven’t seen before in an online comic. While his two grand opuses are completely free to read, he has begun to post several short narrative comics that take place in the same world. However, these have a catch: he won’t post a new short...

The Footwear concepts of Andreia Chaves →
This just in: invisible shoes now on the market. Can also double as shards of anguish (tm) to be thrown as weapons if lightly tapped the right way. Can also triple as shards of anguish (tm) that will slice your own Achilles tendon if lightly tapped the wrong way.
More photos of anguish inducing shoes at the link above.

Nobody Scores! A little comic about inevitable... →
Do you like milk? Think it’s epic? Think aliens might like it? (You’d be wrong on the last one). Nobody Scores! has some things to say about milk, and most of them are funny. Don’t you need a comic about milk today? YES.

Keep your lips off cutout film star →
Yes, they really did have to slap a warning sticker over the face of a cardboard cut-out of the guy from Twilight, to get girls (and some guys, I’d wager) to stop kissing it.
I’ll be in my horror hole, rocking slowly and humming.

Pretty Voices, Pretty Faces
Ever since the Spike Video Game Awards nominees were announced over a month ago, I’ve had a blog post a-brewing in my netbook. It originally started as an attempt to go through the list and rationalize the options, give my opinion on what should win, and what will most likely take the popular vote. While that’s all fine and dandy, it’s ultimately pointless. The games that got...

My Year Of Everything - The Unlikely Moviegoer →
This unfortunate soul went and saw the Glenn Beck Christmas movie just so we all never have to. How very kind and eye-gougingly generous of him.
Oh, what, you didn’t know there was a Glenn Beck Christmas movie? Now you DO, and you can’t UN-know it, so you’d better just read this loathing re-cap of it to feel better about the whole travesty. I warned you.

Fantastically creative video by the New Zealand Book Council. I find it a little strange that this is a video whose goal is to goad people to read, considering how it focuses on the crazy things that can be done when pages are used for things other than reading. In any case, extremely cool!
